Silica

Silica is a basic component in many modern products and applications. These include feed stock for silicon and ferrosilicon metal production, refractory materials and as flux in the ore smelting process. In addition, the raw silica can be used in water filtration, glass production and sand blasting applications.

TRE possesses several silica holdings in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. These properties can be classified into two categories.

TRE holds 9 silica flux and 4 silicon or ferrosilicon properties located in Newfoundland and Labrador. All these properties lie within easy access to tide water ports. Estimated grades and tonnage's for each property are given in the following pages.
